Below are various lists of tech tools, UCSB programs, and general tips to assist with your learning in this course, whether you just need a little help organizing your studying, or if you have a learning disability and need more concrete tools tailored to your needs.

Quizlet: Website to create online flashcards, useful for solidifying knowledge of terms and core concepts

Nectir: All UCSB students have access to Nectir. You can set up groups with the whole class or with certain classmates to discuss coursework, collaborate, and share work.

Disabled Student Program (DSP)

Provides services for students with learning disabilities, such as working with professors to modify assignment and exam times, notetakers, e-text services, and other accommodation resources to assist with learning.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)

Focuses on providing services for income eligible and first-gen students in making the most of their undergraduate experience, both academic and extracurricular. Services include providing academic counseling, outreach to other departments to promote inclusivity, writing courses, AS/EOP grants, and peer mentoring.

Program geared towards transfer students to help with adjusting to UCSB. Services include providing academic advising, skills workshops, peer mentors, social events, and more to help with transfer students' academic, social, and financial life.

General Tips

Accessibility options on your phone, computer, and other devices can assist with special needs, such as adjusting font sizes, contrast, speech-to-text, etc.

Tech tools are not only have improving learning itself, but also how you organize your time and use it effectively to complete assignments and study.

While tech tools have advanced and come a long way, sometimes the best way to learn involves older “tech”, such as paper and pencil. Don’t feel like you have to use the newest tech to learn effectively.

It’s not just about doing well academically; mental and emotional well-being are important too!

Don't feel like you have to work alone, work with other students and engage with your community in non-academic ways to and build a support system!
